UNStudio was founded in 1988 by Ben van Berkel and Caroline
Bos. It is a Dutch architectural design studio that specializes in
architecture, urban development, and infrastructural projects. UNStudio is a
collaborative practice as it has expanded its scope to Asia for a multinational
team of architects.
UNStudio uses design techniques such as attainable design
for sustainable projects, integral methodology for a collective design process
among various fields, and a responsible approach to provide proper insight as
techniques and designs become more complex. UNStudio also researches
extensively in order to incorporate certain knowledge platforms into their
designs. Some knowledge platforms include, inventive materials, innovative
organizations, smart parameters, and architectural sustainability.

The Raffles City in Hangzhou, China is currently an ongoing
mixed-use project by UNStudio that portrays computational methods in its
design. The design process shows the addition and subtraction of parts to
create geometric patterns. This particular project emphasizes the relationship
between architecture and urbanism. The large void spaces in between the two
diagonally opposed towers provide for stimulating public spaces.
